The Tour Itinerary for Magical Hills of Kerala - 5 days Kerala Trip

DAY 01 Arrive Kochi/Ernakulam and Drive to Munnar (130 Kms, 4 Hrs)

Welcome to Kerala, God’s Own Country! Upon your arrival in Kochi before noon, you will be greeted. Later, drive through vibrant towns adorned with churches and temples, passing endless stretches of rubber and tea plantations, pristine valleys, and scenic mountains on your way to Munnar—the haven of peace and tranquility. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 02 Day at Munnar

After breakfast, set out on a scenic exploration of Munnar, a destination known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich heritage. Visit Mattupetty Dam, where serene waters reflect the surrounding hills, and take in the panoramic views from Pothamedu Viewpoint. Enjoy the natural acoustics at Echo Point and gain insight into the region’s tea legacy at the Tea Museum, along with visits to other key attractions. As the day winds down, take a stroll through the charming town, soaking in its tranquil ambiance, or explore local markets for premium tea, coffee, and spices—a perfect souvenir of your journey. Day 03 Munnar to Thekkady (100 Kms, 03 Hrs)

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Thekkady, a dream destination nestled amidst fragrant cardamom plantations. Along this breathtaking route, enjoy photo stops at picturesque viewpoints or savor a cup of freshly brewed tea from a local stall. Keep your camera ready to capture the stunning landscapes. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and unwind.

In the afternoon, explore a spice plantation, where you’ll get a fascinating glimpse into how spices like cardamom, pepper, and cinnamon are cultivated. You may also opt for a wildlife boat safari on the Periyar Lake (tickets and entry fees to be paid directly, subject to availability). Depending on the season, you might spot elephants, wild boars, bison, or even a playful herd of deer along the shores. Overnight stay in Thekkady. (B)

Day 04 Day at Thekkady

If you haven't done so earlier, consider going boating in the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary early in the morning. (Tickets can be paid for and purchased directly by joining the queue). While cruising on the motorboat, you may have the opportunity to spot wild animals that come to drink from the lake.

The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the streets and markets of Kumily Town. Alternatively, you can opt for additional excursions such as a Jungle Trek, Elephant Ride, or Bullock Cart Ride, available for direct payment. Seasonal tours like the Jungle Trek, offered by the Forest Department, are also available. Overnight stay in Thekkady.

Day 05 Thekkay to Kochi (4 1/2 to 5 Hrs). Drop at Kochi airport or Ernakulam Railway Station

After an early breakfast, enjoy some free time for last-minute photos and packing. Later, drive down the hills, taking in the lush green mountains, bubbling seasonal streams, and quaint towns, en route to Kochi Airport or Ernakulam Railway Station for your return journey. The drive typically takes approximately four and a half to five hours. Please consult with us before booking your flight or train tickets. We recommend scheduling departures after 5:00 PM to ensure a relaxed journey. Tours ends.(B)

Experience Enhancing Tips for this 5 Days Kerala Trip

Availing Via Kerala - Arrival Departure city

You will have to arrive and depart from Kochi Airport (COK). If by train, you will have arrive at Ernakulam Town (ERN) or Ernakulam Junction (ERS). Munnar is 130 Kms, 4 Hrs drive from Kochi

Availing Via Tamilnadu

- Best place is to arrive in Tamilandu side is Madurai. Arrive and depart at Madurai Aiport (IXM) or Madurai Railway station(MDU). Madurai Munnar is 155 Kms, 4 Hrs via Theni/Bodi.

Arrival Tips

Most hotels in Kerala follow 12 Noon check-in and 1000 Hrs check-out practice.In order to enhance the experience you can arrive in the morning before noon. Munnar is close to 4 Hrs drive from Kochi or Madurai and we recommend before 0900 Hrs

Departure Tips

We recommend to depart Kochi or Madurai after 1800-1900 Hrs. If you depart late, may be you can have short shopping session or minor sight seeing session in Kochi or Madurai

For late arrivals

If your flight or train can only bring you after say 1600 Hrs, please take extra night at Kochi or Madurai. Even otherwise consider an extra night at Kochi or Madurai for local sight seeing and temple visits.

Tour Extension Ideas

Incase you have extra days and happy with this routing you can conisder extra night at Kochi or Madurai or extend two days at Vagamon which is 95 Kms from Munnar and 45 Kms from Thekkady

Hotels are always on a bed-and-breakfast basis, while the houseboat is on full-board. We exclude lunch, dinner, and entry fees to provide you with flexibility in dining and paying for attractions.
